FAQ's

  • What will it cost for Training?
Our training is personalized for each client—no two dogs will receive the same type or amount of training. Depending on your location, we may offer a free evaluation or one with a small fee. During this evaluation, we will assess your dog’s temperament and determine the best type of training for them. We will also discuss the available training options, allowing us to provide you with a more accurate estimate tailored to your dog’s needs.
  • What is the Training Techniques you use?
Over the course of my Dog Training career, I have explored nearly every dog training camp and methodology out there. I’ve learned how to apply a wide range of training techniques, and as a professional trainer, I can offer any style you prefer. While some methods may take longer or be less effective, at Zack’s Pack, we respect that every owner has their own preferences, and we’re always happy to accommodate them. That said, my primary approach is play-based training, heavily incorporating Ivan Balabanov’s TWC Training methodology. This method builds trust, engagement, and authority, resulting in a well-behaved, happy dog. I look forward to explaining more about this approach during our evaluation and beyond.
  • How long does training take?
Because all our programs are customized to each dog, there is no one-size-fits-all timeline for training. However, a general estimate is provided below: For puppies and adult dogs undergoing basic obedience training at home with their owner, it typically takes between 4 to 8 sessions over a span of 6 to 12 weeks, depending on how quickly the dog learns. For our Board and Train programs focused on obedience, the average duration is 3 to 4 weeks. Behavior modification training, however, is more unpredictable, as the timeline depends on the severity of the issues and the individual dog’s progress.
  • Where do the training sessions take place?
We offer two general training setups: In-Home Training: Most sessions take place at the client’s home or a nearby park. Toward the end of the program, we may train in busier environments, such as downtown areas, to reinforce and proof the dog’s training in real-world situations. Board & Train: This program combines training at the client’s home, local parks, and my home, where the dog stays with me for the duration of their training. This immersive approach allows for consistent structure, socialization, and reinforcement of behaviors in different environments.
  • What's the Difference between "In-Home Training" and a "Board & Train"
The biggest difference between In-Home Training and Board & Train comes down to where and how your dog learns. In-Home Training is a hands-on approach where I come to your home or a nearby park for sessions. You’ll be actively involved in the training process, learning alongside your dog. Toward the end of the program, we may train in busier areas, like downtown, to help proof their training in real-world situations. This is a great option if you want to be part of every step and practice between sessions. Board & Train is a more immersive experience for your dog where they stay with us at my home for the duration of their training. We’ll work on obedience and behavior in different environments, including my home, local parks, and your home, to ensure they can adapt anywhere. To make sure your dog successfully transitions back home, we include multiple in-home sessions. This helps reinforce good behaviors, prevent old bad habits from returning, and ensure that everything learned during training carries over smoothly.
  • Can multiple family members participate in training?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! The more family members involved, the better, as it ensures that your dog learns to follow commands from everyone in the household. This consistency is key to successful training, and we’re happy to work with anyone who wants to be part of the process!
  • If I can't afford training for my dog, what's the most I can do to help my dog?
The best thing any dog owner can do, whether training with me or not, is to learn to give your dog purpose in life. For a starting place, we recommend checking out Ivan Balabanov’s videos on Chase and Catch and Possession games. Your world will be flipped upside down with the amazing information you can learn from these videos. There is so much more to training a dog, but if you are able to give your dog purpose in life, a lot can improve as time goes on.
